一般分類文章都會說明為何要取該名字，這篇也不例外。Geodorcus在這篇文章中有提到，這種鍬不飛，在地上爬，所以取名Geodorcus(ge的意思是earth)。因此翻為地鍬並無不妥。*_{y

大意是說Geodorcus的"ge"來自希臘文，就是"地(earth)"的意思，v!
這也意指了Geodorcus是不擅長飛行的蟲...幾乎被"縛在地上"...yp
而由於牠們和某些大鍬屬(Dorcus)長得很像，所以就將兩字結合在一塊。  @.D&2m
